Global Supply Chain Executive at Aerospace

Biography

Based in London corporate headquarters, Amber Okoye was appointed as Vice President of Supply Chain for Strategic Sourcing, Emerging Markets and Supplier Performance at GKN Aerospace in 2017 to champion the strategy of building long-term, sustainable value and developing a commercially-focused sourcing strategy, including key emerging markets that leverage the company’s global asset base. Additionally, Amber focused on formulating and embedding a centralized sourcing strategy to deliver competitive advantage. She also took command of the improvement, standardization and benchmarking of the supplier performance methodology and supplier quality process.

Prior to her expat assignment, Amber joined Sikorsky (a Lockheed Martin company) in 2013 as Director, Strategic Sourcing. Amber was responsible for sourcing and supplier development across Sikorsky. Amber led the commodity management, account management and supplier development teams for Sikorsky Operations. She championed the execution of Sikorsky commodity management strategies and processes through identification and implementation of best practices, tools and techniques at key suppliers, ensuring appropriate supplier risk analyses were completed and improvement plans instituted. Amber also focused on the growth and leverage of Sikorsky’s Supplier Gold Program through identification of standard processes with highly leveraged suppliers.

Amber held roles of increasing responsibility at Covidien (a Medtronic company) where she most recently held the position of Director, Global Supplier Development – Surgical Solutions. Amber joined Covidien in 2008 as Director, Supplier Quality Management. Prior to Covidien, Amber spent four years with United Technologies at Carrier Corporation, first as Supply Chain Strategic Sourcing Program Manager and then as Global Supplier Quality & Development Manager. Amber started her career with Motorola, as a Mechanical Development Engineer for the Radio Network Solutions Group before being named Technical Operations Engineering Manager and was then promoted to Senior Program Manager for Commercial Government Industrial Solutions Sector in 2003.

Amber holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas and an MBA from the University of Miami. She is a Six Sigma Black Belt, Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) and holds 2 U.S. patents.
